I love the beauty in simplicity and the creaminess of neutrals. It has been fun to start prepping for a finished studio and some of the backdrops l have always longed for. This sweet little sitter came to see me and was such a cute ham.
From the start of my business I was pretty much crafting for it. The deeper I got into photography, the more I did. I have enjoyed making banners to hang in the background of my photos and headbands for girls, I took it a bit further a few years ago when I learned to sew. I made a couple little quilts and learned how to make up-cycled outfits. One thing has always had my interest but I decided it had to be really hard, knitting. I love all the adorable knitted hats, outfits, blankets, etc that I see. My desire to be able to knit all these beautiful items I had been seeing was so great that l decided to just jump in with both feet. Not knowing who to turn to for help to teach me, I headed to youtube. To my surprise, I took to the basics of knitting pretty quickly. I still had it in the back of my brain that hats/bonnets were going to be super hard. I was able to talk with an experienced knitter at a specialty yarn shop and she got me in the right direction for what I wanted to learn. I went to youtube again and taught myself what l needed to know and made my first Newborn wrap. Another knitter sent me in a great learning direction and gave me great encouragement. I found a newborn bonnet pattern that looked easy enough and went for it. It worked out great and I have made it into the double digits with the amount of bonnets I have made. I have also made some layering blankets and wraps. This is something I am glad I decided to do. I love being able to add color and texture to my photos with the different layers and hats.
I love to photograph newborns but babies would have to be a very close second. I had a great time playing dress up with this sweet little one. We tried hard to get some smiles but every time I put my camera up, she kept them from us. I loved getting to use the neutrals of my new backdrop that l made, I love the beautiful creaminess it adds to my photos.
When I started this photography journey 8 1/2 years ago, l didn’t realize how much I would grow to love it! I started before I had my own littles so I was delighted when my own sweet little models came along. They have definitely become 2 of my favorite subjects to photograph, even if my son isn’t as excited about it anymore. This past fall l finally did something l have been wanting to do for years, l made the trek to the Sunflower field out side of Lawrence. It was more beautiful than l could have ever imagined. We lucked out on a week night and just missed storm that was rolling in. Before I knew if we would make it out there, l took advantage of some of the beauty that was growing in our ‘own’ back yard. We had a nice patch of Blackeyed Susans that had sprung up. I can’t pass up a chance to dress up my sweet girl and take some pictures!
I never knew when l started out on this photography journey 8 1/2yrs ago that l would grow to love Newborn photography so much! Newborns are definitely my favorite subjects to photograph. l work our of my home and enjoy getting to do what l love and also be near my family. This little guy I finally got to meet when he was a month old. His mama is one of my vary good friends so I was very excited to get the chance to photograph him. I used their favorite color pallets and mine, neutrals!
My family and l are pretty big Disney people. My husband and I started out our lives together enjoying our honeymoon there and I love getting to share it now with my kiddos. This last trip I was determined to get some great photographs from it (they are my most favorite souvenir). I made sure get some great candids while at the parks and then the last day l dressed my kiddos up to get some more formal yet fun shots at our beautiful resort. I am so glad l did too, I love looking back at all the great memories we made!
These kiddos had a lot of fun with my Valentine snacks.

Had some fun Valentine Mini sessions this weekend!
One of my favorite things about being a photographer is getting to have fun with my own littles. I have been wanting to do a glitter session with my daughter and love how these turned out!
